Easing the Emotional Pain of Stillbirth Through Advocacy (1 CE)
Course Description:
This presentation covers the rate of and impact of Stillbirth in the United States, legislative efforts to elevate awareness around stillbirths, and offers support for individuals and their families. Special focus is given to the certificate of birth resulting in stillbirth (which may provide emotional comfort), how it is obtainable in many states, and how people can be active in advocacy and policy changes surrounding these issues.

Presenter Bio:
Shakima “Kima” Tozay, is a Navy Veteran, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Certified Diversity Professional. She has spent over a decade providing social services to the military and has held leadership roles on various boards, committees, and commissions. She is pursuing her doctorate in Social Work from the University of Alabama with expertise in trauma-informed leadership, advocacy, and policy concerning maternal health, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
